Aaron Clarke vs Umar Al-Matin: the result at Byon Combat Showbiz 8
Aaron Clarke beat Umar Al-Matin by TKO in round 3.
The fight took place on Saturday 29 August 2026 at Tennis Indoor Senayan in Jakarta. It was a 61 kg lightweight bout under UCC kickstriking rules.
Antara, Indonesia’s national news agency, reported the round. A later profile on the news site jogjapos said the same. No source we found gives the time in the round.
It was Aaron’s second fight for Byon, and his second win. In April he beat Azwan Che Wil in Kuala Lumpur. You can read about that night in Azwan Che Wil vs Aaron Clarke at Byon Combat Showbiz 7.
Umarusman, Umar Usman or Umar Al-Matin?
All three names belong to the same Malaysian fighter.
Byon’s website and Antara list him as Umarusman. Byon’s social posts and the fight card call him Umar Al-Matin, his ring name. His full name is Umar Usman Abu Bakar. A jogjapos profile links all three names.
He is Malaysian. Every source we read says so. Byon’s own post calls him “Umar Al-Matin dari Malaysia”, or Umar Al-Matin from Malaysia.
In this article we call him Umar Al-Matin, or Umar for short. One more name to keep apart: on Byon’s site, “The Hunter” is Kabilan Jelevan’s nickname. Aaron is “The Bounty Hunter”.

How Aaron Clarke finished Umar Al-Matin
Every account agrees the damage went to the body.
Byon’s posts say Umar went down twice. One caption says a spinning back heel kick hit him “tepat ke arah perut bagian kanan”. That means right on the right side of the stomach.
A longer Byon caption names two weapons. It says Aaron landed a spinning back heel and a knee “ke tempat yang sama”, to the same spot. Umar was then declared TKO.
Antara’s report says Aaron ended the fight with a knee to Umar’s liver. It says the Malaysian fell and could not carry on. Jogjapos also says a knee to the body left Umar unable to continue.
The liver sits on the right side of the body. So Byon and Antara are pointing at the same target.
The sources do not settle which strike caused which knockdown. Antara credits the knee with the finish, and we have kept to what the reports say.
Byon summed up the night with a line it uses for Aaron. He had once again shown “The Real Art Of Kickstriking”.
Who is Umar Al-Matin?
Umar Al-Matin is a young Malaysian fighter with a Muay Thai base.
Jogjapos says he built his career in Malaysian Muay Thai. On 23 April 2026, the Malaysian news agency Bernama called him a national professional Muay Thai athlete. It said he was 25 and unbeaten in 10 fights.
The next night he beat Thai fighter Daraeak by TKO at TFight All Star. That was at Stadium Titiwangsa in Kuala Lumpur on 24 April 2026. Bernama had said Daraeak had the longer record, with several titles in Thailand.
His last fight before Aaron was at Byon Madness 4. He beat Ahmad Omar by unanimous decision. Bola.com had described Ahmad Omar as a Malaysian fighter with more than 15 wins.
His gym is not named in any source we found.
The build-up: a callout and a question about elbows
Umar asked for this fight.
After his win at Madness 4, Umar called Aaron out. Byon’s headline said he wanted to take his position back. A Byon post said the aim was to win back the number five spot.
Byon then framed the fight around Umar’s elbows. One post asked: “Mampukah Aaron Clarke menjawab serangan-serangan elbow milik Umar?” In English, can Aaron Clarke answer Umar’s elbow attacks?
It was a pointed question. Antara describes Aaron as a fighter famous for his deadly elbows.
Byon’s build-up videos had titles like “POETIC PSYWAR AARON CLARKE DENGAN UMAR”. Psywar is short for psychological warfare, or mind games.
Malaysian fight site Borak Fight said Umar came to Jakarta with “satu misi besar”, one big mission.
The weigh-in and press conference were on Friday 28 August, at the same venue. The official face-off post ended with a reminder: “LIVE PPV ON VIDIO!!”
Golden ticket and back-to-back MVP Gold
The win paid off in three ways.
- A Grand Prix place. Byon called it a golden ticket, or “tiket emas”. Its headline read: “AARON CLARKE IS OFFICIALLY GOING TO THE BYON WORLD GRAND PRIX”.
- A second MVP Gold. Byon named him MVP Gold at Showbiz 7, then again at Showbiz 8. It called it “BACK2BACK MVP GOLD”.
- A bonus. Byon’s posts say the MVP Gold came with a bonus of 50 million rupiah.
Byon president Yoshua “Cellos” Marcellos welcomed him on the night. Antara reported his words: “Dengan performa seperti itu, Aaron Clarke dari Irlandia, selamat datang di Byon World Grand Prix!”
In English: “With a performance like that, Aaron Clarke from Ireland, welcome to the Byon World Grand Prix!”
Antara also noted a pattern. It was Aaron’s second straight win over a Malaysian fighter, after Azwan Che Wil at Showbiz 7.
What Aaron said
Aaron kept it short.
After the fight, he posted on Instagram: “Told you the notebook doesn’t lie”. He tagged Cellos and added: “I promise you I will be your Grand Prix Champion”. By early October the post had passed 27,000 likes.
On 1 September he followed up with a short post: “Grand Prix King coming”.
His Instagram bio sums him up: “Proud Irishman by blood, with a heart for Indonesia”. He trains at Soma Fight Club in Bali, and his story tells how he got there from Ireland.
Hasil Byon Combat 8: every winner on the night

Antara published this list of winners:

- Muhammad Bayan Hamid (Indonesia)
- Edwin Pratama Putra (Indonesia), who beat Azwan Che Wil by unanimous decision

- Amir Zolfi (Iran)
- Aaron Clarke (Ireland), 61 kg UCC kickstriking
- Nelson Julianto (Indonesia)
- Wong Jhonson Wijaya (Indonesia), co-main event
- Ammarul Shafiq (Malaysia), main event
Antara’s list tags Ammarul as Indonesian. The same article, and a second Antara report, say he is Malaysian. We have used Malaysia.
Byon Combat Showbiz 8: the main event and the rest of the card
Byon Combat Showbiz 8 brought together fighters from seven countries.
Antara counted fighters from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Iran, Turkey, England and Ireland.
In the main event, Ammarul Shafiq beat Jeka Saragih for the Byon Kickstriking Asia title. His knee hit Jeka in the solar plexus before 50 seconds of round one had passed.
Jeka was the first Indonesian fighter to get a UFC contract. Liputan6 reported he cut more than 20 kg to make the weight for this fight.
In the co-main event, Wong Jhonson Wijaya took the ICB National Title in pro boxing. He beat the defending champion, Andi Cobra.
Four Showbiz 8 winners earned Grand Prix places. They were Ammarul Shafiq, Nelson Julianto, Aaron Clarke and Omer Cavgin. They joined Putra Abdullah, who already had his place.
Where to watch Aaron Clarke vs Umar Al-Matin
The fight was pay-per-view on the night, and there is no free full fight yet.
Kumparan’s schedule put the six main card bouts on Vidio only. Prices started at Rp69,000 in Indonesia, RM18 in Malaysia and US$8 for viewers elsewhere.
On 17 October 2026, Byon’s YouTube channel had no full upload of Aaron vs Umar. It does have short clips. One 35-second clip from 1 September is called “AARON CLARKE TERLALU BUAS UNTUK DI HENTIKAN UMAR!!”, or Aaron Clarke too savage for Umar to stop.
Byon has started to post Showbiz 8 fights for free. Amir Zolfi vs Haris Haiqal, the bout just before Aaron’s, went up in late September.
Byon has done this with Aaron before. It posted his Showbiz 7 fight with Azwan Che Wil free on 23 August 2026, four months after the event.
The UCC rules behind the finish
Two parts of the rulebook explain how this fight ended: body shots and knockdowns.
Under UCC kickstriking rules, knees to the body are legal. The one condition is that a fighter must not pull the opponent’s head down. Kicks to the head, body and legs are legal too.
Byon says Umar went down twice, and knockdowns cost a fighter heavily on the scorecards. But this fight never went to the judges.
A TKO does not need a knockout. It covers a fighter who cannot defend safely or cannot continue. Antara says that is what happened after the knee to the liver. The rulebook says a TKO is final.
The rulebook also rewards hard skills. Strikes that use body rotation, like spinning techniques, can score higher. They must land cleanly and do damage to count extra.
Draws are banned in kickstriking. For a plain-English guide to every rule, read Byon World Grand Prix 2026: the 61 kg field.
What happened next: Umar’s ticket and a possible rematch
Umar’s road did not end in Jakarta.
Byon said the loss to Aaron dropped Umar down the rankings. Then came a second chance. On 3 October 2026, he fought Kabilan Jelevan at Byon Madness 5 in Bandung.
Byon billed it as “THE BATTLE FOR MALAYSIA’S FINAL 61 KG SPOT IN BYON WORLD GRAND PRIX!” It called Umar another strong candidate from Malaysia.
Umar won. Byon’s post read: “RASMI! Umar Al-Matin dari Malaysia sah mendapatkan tiket terakhir untuk ke Byon World Grand Prix kategori 61kg”. That means he officially won the last ticket to the 61 kg Grand Prix.
So Aaron and Umar are both in the eight-man 61 kg field for 12 December 2026. A rematch is possible. No bracket has been published, so nobody knows yet if they will meet.
